Colts

Well, it seems like Dungy is doing something correct. I figured the Chargers couldn't beat 2 tough teams in a row, but I was expecting Baltimore to be a little better than Indy. No TDs, but giving up 5 scores is pretty bad for a top rated defense.

Dungy's Cover 2

Is there a reason Dungy always loses in the playoffs? There could be several reasons, but I postulate that his "brilliant" defensive scheme is flawed. The Cover 2 uses smaller, quicker D-Lineman and Linebackers to run down plays. I see that as a problem when matched against a good running team. I first saw it when the Colts played the 49ers last year (a 28-3 Colts W): Barlow pounded the middle of the Colts D for 5.5 yards per carry. In a lopsided game, how do the woeful 49ers outrush the Colts 133-120? For 2005, the Colts gave up 4.4 yards per carry, ranking 28th in the league.

After Week 4, the Colts are giving up 155 yards per game rushing and 4.8 yards per carry: both 29th overall. This is going to catch up to them as it always does.

Introduction of the Blog

I'm hoping this will become a site for people to comment on a variety of issues regarding all levels of football (NFL, College, High School, Pop Warner, City League Flag, etc.). Hopefully it generates some interesting discussions.
